What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a surgical procedure in which our plastic surgeons remove fat cells from certain areas of the body through liposuction. These usually include the stomach, love handles, and lower back. They then transfers the fat to the buttocks to give it more fullness and lift. Dr. DeRoberts, Dr. Urbinelli, and Dr. Ruter never places fat in the muscle as recommended by all major organizations – safety is our #1 priority.

Butt Lift Procedure

During your consultation with our plastic surgeons, you will discuss the best areas to transfer fat cells from to enhance your overall contour. Dr. DeRoberts, Dr. Urbinelli, and Dr. Ruter prefer removing fat cells from the stomach, love handles, and lower back because, as a result of removing fat in those areas, his patients will see a narrowing of their waistline while enhancing their natural curves and the buttocks.

Dr. DeRoberts, Dr. Urbinelli, or Dr. Ruter will harvest the removed fat cells. They are then carefully separated and purified before reimplementation. The fat cells are then placed carefully in the buttocks to give it more fullness and shape. The amount of fat injected depends upon the amount harvested and the needs and desires of the patient (up to 1000cc per side). Although all of the fat cells do not survive, often 60-70% of the fat grafted remains permanently in the buttocks and behaves just like the natural fat cells there. The patient is under anesthesia through small incisions that need only one stitch to close each.
