What is a TCA Peel? A TCA peel is a solution of trichloroacetic acid (TCA)that is applied to remove the outer layer of skin. This allows new, brighter, healthier skin to emerge. TCA chemical peels are commonly used to treat sun damage, facial wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and pigment abnormalities.

Are you a good candidate for a TCA peel? You are a candidate if you have fine lines, hyper pigmentations, blotchy skin, unevenness, acne, acne scars, superficial scars, black heads or sun damaged skin.

Healing: It will generally take around one week to heal from a TCA peel. You will start to see skin flaking on between day 3 and 4. Flakes will begin on the areas of your face that are frequently in motion such as around the mouth and nose. It will take another 3 days or so for the flaking to stop. Never pick the flaking skin and be sure to keep the area moist.

What is a Glycolic Acid Peel? A Glycolic acid peel, or alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peel is a superficial chemical peel that removes the top layer of your skin. The glycolic peel process triggers the production of new collagen and elastin and, as a result, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, evens out skin discoloration, fights acne, and improves skin texture.

While a single treatment with an AHA peel can improve the appearance of your skin, repeated treatments will have the most effect including improving your skin’s texture and reducing the signs of aging or sun damage. You may also have a maintenance program with AHA products to regularly apply at home.

Are you a good candidate for a Glycolic Acid peel? A Glycolic acid peel is probably the most widely recognized chemical peel there is. It is a great option that works nicely on most skin types.

Healing: You will feel a tingling or mild stinging sensation when the peel is applied to your face. Immediately after the treatment, you should be able to wear makeup and go back to your daily routine.

What is a Lactic Acid Peel? A Lactic Acid peel is a great choice for those dealing with aging and pigmented skin – think liver spots and freckling. Lactic Acid will exfoliate the outer surface of the skin and encourage new cell turnover. It is a natural humectant, pulling moisture from the collagen levels to the surface of skin.

Lactic is considered a superficial peel, meaning that it only penetrates the outermost layer of skin. While a single treatment with a Lactic peel can improve the appearance of your skin, repeated treatments will have the most effect including improving your skin’s texture and reducing the signs of aging.

Are you a good candidate for a Lactic Acid peel? A lactic acid peel is also a great option if you want a cleansing peel but have never had one before. It is also a viable choice for those who have sensitive skin and have a difficult time tolerating other types of peels due to the chemicals they contain.

Healing: You will feel a tingling or mild stinging sensation when the peel is applied to your face. Immediately after the treatment, you should be able to wear makeup and go back to your daily routine.
