Meet Dr. Ruter

Dr. Daniel Ruter is a highly skilled and compassionate plastic surgeon, renowned for his expertise in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. With a commitment to patient-centered care and a well-rounded educational background, Dr. Ruter blends scientific rigor with artistic precision to achieve exceptional results.

 

Dr. Ruter’s medical journey began at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Honors Program. Outside the classroom, he pursued his passion for research, education, and global health. He served as a teaching assistant and researcher at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and traveled internationally on medical service trips to Nicaragua, Tanzania, and Thailand.

 

His medical education continued at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he published multiple papers on lymphedema, trauma surgery, and Targeted Muscle Reinnervation. Throughout his time there, he remained deeply committed to global health, doing a clinical rotation in Thailand and free clinics in Columbus Ohio to further understand health disparities both abroad and at home.

 

Dr. Ruter went on to complete his plastic surgery residency at Albany Medical Center, the busiest trauma center in New York State. There, he received extensive training in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, honing his skills in a high-volume, diverse setting. He also pursued further training in cosmetic surgery, working alongside renowned private practitioners across the country, including at Syracuse Plastic Surgery, where he officially joined the team in the Summer of 2024.

 

A passionate advocate for breast reconstruction, Dr. Ruter offers advanced implant-based techniques to help patients reclaim their confidence and sense of self. He also leads Syracuse Plastic Surgery’s breast cancer fundraising and community outreach initiatives, working to support patients and raise awareness for those in need.

 

Dr. Ruter’s expertise extends to a wide range of aesthetic procedures, including facial, breast, and body surgeries. His approach focuses on enhancing natural beauty and restoring self-confidence through personalized care and modern techniques such as Renuvion, fat grafting, and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Ruter operates in our state-of-the-art, AAAASF-certified operating rooms, working with an experienced team of nurses and anesthesiologists to ensure the highest level of safety and care.

 

Along with his wife, Dr. Anna Wu, a trauma surgeon at Upstate Medical Center, Dr. Ruter is thrilled to call Syracuse home. They look forward to contributing to the community and providing exceptional care to patients in the region.
