One of the things that we pride ourselves in here at DeRoberts Plastic Surgery is being able to provide patients with a wide array of different services— both surgical and non-invasive. One of our most popular non-invasive procedures is our lip augmentation with fillers. By making small, strategic injections around your lips, we can provide you with a fuller pout in virtually no time at all. Before you come to our office and before we start the injection, we have a few things that we encourage patients to do. Ready to learn more? Read on.
Don’t Take NSAIDS
Even though non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen and Advil are great at helping patients get rid of pain and swelling, they may not be so great to take right before lip injections. In fact, they are one of the things that we encourage patients to avoid. Why is that? Because they can cause more bruising at the injection site which is the last thing that you may want.
What Your Herbal Supplements
If you are big on herbal supplements, we may have you be careful with the ones that you take before your injections. For instance, St. John’s Wart, Krill Oil, Fish Oils, Flaxseed Oils, Omega-3, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Garlic, and Glucosamine, are all fillers that we tell patients to avoid before injections because they may lead to more bruising and swelling. Try stopping the use of these about one week beforehand.
Don’t Wear Makeup
Even though we can remove lipstick and lip gloss from your lips before we do your injections, we still encourage patients to come into our office without anything on.
Before we administer your lip injections, we will numb your lips so that you won’t feel as much. To learn more about lip injections, contact our Syracuse office and call us today at (315) 299-5313.
